CHRISTUS SPOHN HOSPITAL
Project Location: Corpus Christi, TX
Project Size: Shoreline Campus:425,000 square feet new construction; 250,000 square feet renovation. Memorial Campus:43,000 square feet new construction
As part of the System’s PATH (People & Actions Transforming Healthcare) initiative, the leaders of CHRISTUS Spohn embarked on a mission to improve the Corpus Christi community’s access to exceptional healthcare services. Working through a collaborative and integrated planning and design process, the project team is implementing a Lean Design process to achieve overall goals in efficiency and flexibility, and to meet operational and financial objectives. The project scope includes transformation of two distinct campuses. All existing acute care services will be consolidated from the Memorial campus to the Shoreline campus, and the aging Memorial facility will be demolished. In its place, a 43,000 square foot wellness center and clinic will provide accessible primary care services for the community. The Shoreline campus will undergo a significant expansion, including the addition of a 186-bed tower and a new 38-bed critical care and trauma emergency department. The project also includes the expansion and renovation of several departments within the busy hospital, including observation and med/surg beds, rehabilitation, and administrative/support areas.
