University of oklahoma Medical Center
Project Location: Oklahoma City, OK
Completion Date: est. June 2022
Project Size: 500,000+ square feet
In 2017, Perkins+Will worked with OUMC to break ground on a major expansion. The only Level I Trauma Center in the State of Oklahoma, OU Medical Center consistently receives an acute volume that exceeds its current capacity. To meet this need, the hospital is constructing a new patient tower that will significantly expand surgical, critical care, and med/surg capacity. In the design scope of this project are thirty-two (32) new operating rooms with 14 new on the 2nd floor and 18 new on the 3rd floor of the new tower. OUMC will maintain four (4) of its existing Trauma ORs, which will make a total of thirty-six (36) operating rooms once the project is complete. In order to adequately support the new ORs, adequate Pre-op and PACU space will be accommodated per code adjacent and contiguous to the new ORs on each floor. A sterile corridor will allow patient and staff flow to and from the IR and OR areas on the 2nd floor for improved efficiencies and quality measures.
